What is the best way to keep nail polish on natural nails?

I put nail polish on my nails and it starts to chip after 1 day. Any ideas?What is the best way to keep nail polish on natural nails?
Seal the polish in with a top coat and prep it with a base coat.

File the top of the nail gently so that the polish can stick more. Put two coats and a clear topcoat on after that...
Use a base coat. I use O.P.I Chip Skip then i use Stickey base coat then polish. It stays a lot longer!
put sealer on under the polish then over it too.
put a base coat on under it and possibly a top coat on after that. Base coat and top coat are clear nailpolishes that help nailpolish stick.
Always use a base coat and a top coat and before you paint your nails with anything soak them in water and soap. make sure there clean and filed.
