Is there any way to get nail polish out of fabric? What about ball point pen?

My daughter just got orange nail polish on a pair of light purple fuzzy cotton knit pants. I sprayed it with shout and now it's sitting. The ball point pen is on off-white cotton knit fabric. It was pretreated with shout and washed, and now has air dried. Any suggestions? Is there any way to get nail polish out of fabric? What about ball point pen?
Try NON ACITONE nail polish remover on the nail polish, It won't hurt the fabric. And use hairspray on the pen marks. I used to work at a drycleaners, thats what we used.Is there any way to get nail polish out of fabric? What about ball point pen?
Amodex spot remover will take care of the pen mark.
ok with ink you can use acetone found at the drug store. or hair spray will also take ink out, you can use nail polish remover but make sure that it won't lose the color by doing a test in the hem or waist bank.
Hello Jules, well methylated spirits lifts out ink as well as grass stain麓s. you can try if you wish with cotton wool and a little Methylated spirits, then nail varnish should come out with your nail varnish remover, or you can try freezing it off, place a few ice cubes in a plastic bag , rub, the stain then when it麓s hard scrape it of with a blunt knife.
try non acetone finger nail polish remover for the orange and then buy opps! and use that on the ball point pen mark and opps! is great for everything that is too hard to get out but smells strong!
nailpolish:no way. it's 100% permanet. ballpoint pen:i dunno.
don't know about nail polish but i heard aerosol hair spray and a paper towel will get out ink.never tried it so don't actually know if it works. good luck!
I have used nail polish remover on carpet. The nail polish came out and the carpet just looked clean. It didn't leave a bleached out mark like you would think.

How long does it take your nail polish to dry?

Mine always gets bumped and messed up! Is it actually possible for this not to happen? How long does it take your nail polish to dry?
Let your nails airdry for 30 minutes. Thirty minutes of nothing, (laundry, cooking, etc.) watch a movie while they dry or something, and they should be good to goHow long does it take your nail polish to dry?
Well drying time depends on what polish you used , how many coats , and how thick each coat you applied was ...and did yu put on a top coat .. normally for the polish to set up and harden completly it takes about 45 mins to an hour ...

You can get some spray from the polish isle that helps the polish to dry ...You can also get some stuff I'm not sure what it is called but it is clear and looks like top coat but it is like water and it is in a bottle same as polish and it helps polish to dry faster as well .

I se a polish called Finger Paints and I get it at Sally Beauty Supply , and it goes on wonderfully and it dries fast , and it stays on for along time as well when you use a hardener//top coat and the one that I use dries fast and it is called Beauty Secrets Hardener . You can gt it in a small bottle or the one I have which is a 2.5 ounce bottle and iy cost around 6 dollars but it was well worth it as I have had it for almost a year and I do my nails once a week and sometimes more .It came from Sally Beauty Supply as well .

and with that hardener my polish stays on untill I take it off , and I think the longest my polish stayed on and chip free with that hardener was over 2 weeks I was amazed at that ...It also helps my nails grow for some reason ...

Even the NYC polish you get from like Wal Mart for around a dollar stays on good with the hardener , and that heardener sets up really fast also .
Just go to the nail salon and get solar nails! No drying time involved!

What is your favorite brand of nail polish?

Also, do you like the soaps and lotions that are in that line or do you prefer a different brand? What is your favorite brand of nail polish?
i'm in beauty school and we use OPI polish. i like it a lot %26amp; they have a lot of cute colors. What is your favorite brand of nail polish?
Everyone knows Opi is the best, and they're the only premium brand to have unconventional colors. Since I only wear screaming colors like green, blue, magenta, orange, or pink, the two options I see are Hansen's Xtreme Wear and NYC. Both are made by Del Labs, and the $2 bottles of NYC work about as well as the bargain line Xtreme Wear Hansen stuff. Not professional-grade, but still very very good. It's well-mixed, goes on evenly, and only requires one coat. Holds up very well, too. The 99 cent NYC is a bit gloopy, requires two or more coats, and is a bit less durable, but it's surprisingly passable and not just for broke teenagers. Worth a look as it's pretty much the only way to get a straight orange without going to a specialist shop or Hot Topic.

I know other people who use the Xtreme Wear, and they also like it. They and NYC have plenty of more staid colors too, so if you wish to save some cash in these lean times, just switch down to the cheaper stuff. It works well enough that your friends probably won't be able to tell that you didn't spend good money on it.

If its on the white part of the comforter, maybe bleach? Go to a cleaning store and try some different items. Maybe if you take it to a dry cleaners and ask them they can help you out. Goodluck! How do you get dried black nail polish off a light green and white comforter?
Darlin, you are not gonna get black nail polish out of white or light green. It's that simple. Never never never. The other answers are from people trying to be helpful, but you are screwed. But this is clearly important to you and I never say never. You may not be able to remove it entirely, but you can cover it. Go to an art supply store and ask for a water proof paint. The oil painting isle would probably be your best bet. Buy white and cream to try to match your white. Mix it on a pallet until you get the right shade and just paint over the black. What? You got a better idea? Do the same with the green areas. Buy yellow, green and blue, then mix until you get a match. Just remember it will dry just a tiny bit darker.

Otherwise, maybe a dry cleaner who does alterations could cut like six inches off the end, sew that end shut and use the scrap as a patch. That might be a better idea, depending on the pattern, if you don't mind shortening it. And you would be surprised how little they charge.

If you try these methods; do them OUTSIDE due to the fumes.

Always test the cloth with just a bit of the acetone to make sure it does not fade the color or even dissolve the material.

    Again, do this OUTSIDE.
Try benzine or turpentine. That should remove it but try to do it outside or in a very well ventilated room.

No it is not advised to use human nail polish because it contains DBP.Is it safe to use human nail polish for dogs?
Not sure but it's gotta be hard to keep the paws still long enough for it to dry!
no. it's too strong of a scent for their sinuses, and it's harmful if they lick it off. go to the pet store like petsmart, they have some nail polish for dogs.
    i think, it is.
nooooooo they might eat it and get sick!

go to a groomer and see if they hav a non toxic paint they can use.

on my super sweet 16 the girl dyed her 2 poodles pink and painted there toes at the groomers.

good luck bet theyd look cute =]
don't do that to your pup, you will make her sick, and it will not look good smeared or chewed up.
I've done it to my dog and nothing happened to him, but I guess it could be bad if your dog licked the nailpolish off or something.
makes them sick and why would you?
nope. there are ';dog'; nail polishes that aren't poisonous. if the puppy chews on her nails, it could give her problems.
It's totally inappropriate to paint a dog's toe nails with nail polish.

It's a dog, not a human. The chemicals are likely to be dangerous, but I don't know for sure since most people have more sense than to put nail polish on a dog's toe nails.

What makeup and nail polish colors are good for dark hair and pale skin?

I have black hair, black eyes and pale skin (all naturally!). When my hair was lighter (dyed), I could get away with dark nail polish and stuff, but now I'm wondering if I should lighten up on the makeup colors and polish. I have warm tones in my skin. Wear nail polish colors like Rihanna. She wears neon colors, and they're really cool. What makeup and nail polish colors are good for dark hair and pale skin?
I'm jealous. I have naturally blond hair and brown eyes.

I have to constantly dye my hair for it to be black.

    But for you..

Nails- I think you should have a fun, neon nail color. Such as an orange, hot pink, or even learn how to do french nails.

Makeup- If you want natural makeup then just have a shiny skin tone eyeshadow with glossy lip gloss. If you like the scene look then do either neon eye shadow with pale lips, or black eyeshadow with again pale lips.

Clothing- Again, I love the 'scene' style. Anything fun, bright, and unique that no one else has.

Hair- you should tease your hair to make it puffy at the top. :)

browns, earth tones, blues, pinks, red.... Just try different kinds and see what works best for you, but blue might look really nice. A french would also look really good. You would probably look hot in dark blue jeans and a tank top maybe a brown or blue top. Don't worry too much about what to wear. Just try different things out and pick and choose what looks the best to you.

Use non acetone nail polish remover and wipe of with damp cloth as soon as you get the polish off...Do you think goo gone will work on removing nail polish off of a wood table?
No-but there's a product called Goofoff that I used extensively on the wood trim in my house to remove old wall paint booboos and it worked great. A few really bad areas required a light wipe of lemon oil.
No matter what you use to remove the polish you are also going to remove the wood stain, therefore, you will have to sand and restain the table.
I've never tried goo gone. But I got nail polish on my dinning room table and just removed it with a non acetone polish remover. Just dip a cotton swab in the remover and use barley enough to get the polish up, then wipe with a clean cloth. ( My husband never knew...hehehe) Good Luck.
I personally do not like the goo gone brand. I use Goof Off. You can get it at places like Lowe's and the Home Depot. It costs the same and works so much better!!! It comes in liquid and aerosol spray forms. I like the liquid the best. Dab a small amount on a cloth and wipe your trouble areas away. I have not found a problem I could not solve with that stuff yet! Have a great day! :)
I'm not sure what you would use...I have made the mistake of spilling nail polish remover onto my bedside table and taking off the stain. One thing I did notice was that blotting was far better than wiping - when I wiped the stain can right off, but where I blotted it just got a bit rough but stayed out.

I was just going to suggest that whatever you try, test it underneath the table in an inconspicuous spot first.

What shear color should go over top of black nail polish?

I have put glitter over top of my black nail poslish and its stunning, i get compliments all the time. I love black nail polish for the fall, but i want to spice it up alittle. • How do i remove the yellow tinge that nail polish leaves on nails?

what can i use to remove the yellowish tinge that leaving nail polish on for to long leaves? How do i remove the yellow tinge that nail polish leaves on nails?
First of all, nails do not need to 'breathe.' They are made of dead keratin cells. They do not have lungs or gills! I don't have any idea where this ridiculous idea of nails needing to breathe all began, but it is so not true!

Yes, you can lightly buff it off. However, the best way to deal with it is to prevent it from happening in the first place. How? Simple. Always use a good quality base coat prior to applying polish. Base coat does three things. 1) It helps to form a barrier between your natural nails and the polish - thus it will prevent your nails from staining. 2) It acts as a sort of double sided tape which will help you polish to adhere better to your natural nails which, in turn, makes it last longer, and 3) It will help the polish to glide on the nail which makes it much easier to apply it smoothly.

Again, make sure the base coat you choose is good quality. Base coats are not created equal. In other words, don't skimp on this. Spend a few extra dollars on it to be sure you are getting a good quality product. The cheap brands do not work as well. How do i remove the yellow tinge that nail polish leaves on nails?
The best thing to do is to put Base color before putting the nail color on. It protects your nail from becoming yellowish. Also it is a good idea to buff while cleaning them. nails should be dry when you that and the buffer should be softest possible.

Base color you can get in the nail section or in the nail salon. It is usually pink transparent in color and you will see It says base color.
    Ok. Sooo

    1) Nails DO need to breathe but

2)This is not the cause of the discoloration.

It's not breathing literally but the nail needs fresh air and not to be trapped in there. But what stains it IS the nail polish so remove the nail polish and wait for the nail to grow out. Do not buff them with a nail file (unless it's one of those smooth ones to buff your nails but those wno't buff the yellow out) as this is really unhealthy and weakens the nail. When the nail has grown out and it's no longer yellow, apply a base coat and then the nail color. Ta da! All done %26amp; safe.
sometimes that can be discoloration of the actual nail.. i had to go to the doctor about mine once %26amp; turns out i wear nail polish to much and the nails couldn't breath.. so they change color

so just keep the polish off for a week or something, also a buffer can remove almost all of it..

EDIT: wendy, are you a doctor? i got this ';ridiculous idea'; from my doctor.. it has nothing to do with quality, if you have nail polish on 24/7 it will happen.

%26amp; just because we say they need to breath doesnt mean they need lungs.lol
Omgoodness, i have had so much experience with this! I love to paint my nails, and i rarely have no polish on them, but when i found out i was actually harming my nails, because they needed to breath i stopped wearing polish....for about a day haha. My nails were soooo ugly and yellow i couldnt stand 2 walk around like that. So just letting them ';air out'; didnt work for me. I ended up just going to a nail salon and having them buff them out (which is just basically scratching off the top yellow layer of your nail) it was quick and cheap and it worked! I hope this helped : )
if it is from the nail polish, you can remove it with a vinegar. Soak your nails for 15 min, repeat next day
    It's from wearing nail polish
Buff them! or use lemon juice.

What are you talking about, they both smell great. What do you think is worse, inhaling nail polish or nail polish remover?
Nail Polish Remover is a lot worse to inhale, because it kills brain cells, like inhaling helium to make your voice a high pitched squeaky sound. BUT i really love the smell of Nail Polish Remover! Like the smell of gas, or permanent markers. I dont know why. I dont really think that Nail Polish has a smell...

What is the best nail quick dryer or best way to dry nail polish quickly?

http://www.lorealparisusa.com/_us/_en/de鈥?/a>What is the best nail quick dryer or best way to dry nail polish quickly?
Well, to dry my nails I either stick them out the window and let the air get to them, blow on them or use a hair dryer. There is a nail dryer you can get, think I've seen them in argos [www.argos.co.uk].
I dip my fingers in ice water. Seems to do the trick. Don't touch the sides of the bowl or the polish with your other fingers though. That may be common sense. :-)
I always use sally hensen's clear top coat. It says Quick Dry on it. It kills two birds with one stone because you have nice, shiny, polished nails annnnnd they dry faster.
They sell sprays over-the-counter that dry your nails quickly.
Put your fingers (or toes) in the freezer! Cold, but it works!

What is there to do while waiting for the nail polish to set?

I love painted nails but I'm often impatient and end up damaging the polish before it's fully dry. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do while waiting for it to set fully? What is there to do while waiting for the nail polish to set?
i multitask it...pamper yourself, or do this before you go out. Take a shower, then while your hair is drying put mask on your face...do your toes..and then your fingernails..sit back chill ...listen to a good song..or watch a video or something...and running a little cold water over your fingernails never hurt after giving them 10 minutes to dry...i read it somewhere...and it helps..What is there to do while waiting for the nail polish to set?

If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?

I'm not much of a girly girl, and I just wanted to look nice, so I got myself a full set of acrylics. I work for Starbucks and the bastards won't let me have my nails painted for work. I want to remove the nail polish, but I remember hearing that something in the nail polish remover does **** to the acrylics. Any help?If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?
Don't use acetone nail polish, it'll dissolve the nails. If I have acrylic nails and I want to change the polish, do I need a different kind of nail polish remover?
You need to get a polish remover that does not contain acetone. This chemical is very strong and will ';melt'; the acrylic. You can get non-acetone polish remover most anywhere i.e. Walgreens, Target, Thrifty Drugs....probably even the supermarket.
I don't think they really have the right to not let you paint your nails. 0_o

tell them it's your belief, you can do anything if it's your belief. xD
You should try to remove the acrylics. I've never heard that nail polish remover damages them, but if you heard that then don't try to remove the color.
DO NOT USE ACETONE!!!!!!!!!!! It will start to dissolve the acrylic and turn them a chalky white color. Nasty.
    A better and easier way for you to completely uninstall any unwanted application that standard Windows Add/Remove Program can\'t remove.%26lt;

    http://reg.registry-cleaners.cn %26gt;
Non-acetone should work, and then you can polish right over the acrylic nail.

    Good luck!
Yes, you need non-acetone remover, as opposed to acetone.
It is best to use non-acetone polish remover.
    dont use acetone.

that will desolve the acrillic and turn ur nail yellow.
Starbucks sucks!!! yeah just dont use acetone remover on your nails. itll take um off.

How do I get rid of warts with clear nail polish?

I was reading an insert in my newspaper advertising ';Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Things'; by Readers Digest. I don't want to buy the book but was wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of warts with clear nail polish. Please give as many details as possible. Thanks! How do I get rid of warts with clear nail polish?
Instructions: every morning and night put clear nail polish on your warts, and within a week they will come off. My friend had tried every thing from getting them burned off, prescription meds, soaking them then trying to clip them off with finger nail clippers nothing worked until she went to a new manicurist and they mentioned it, I was amazed I hope it works for somebody else. How do I get rid of warts with clear nail polish?

After wearing nailpolish too often, my nails turn yellow. How can I remove that? How can you get rid of the yellow tint on nails after using nail polish repititiously?
Ever hear the saying back in the days...If an actical turns and or has a yellowish tint to it, use a blueing agent to conteract the yellow. It works on clothes, hair, floors, and I would assume it will also work on your nails...How can you get rid of the yellow tint on nails after using nail polish repititiously?
I don't think you can. When you wear polish, you should always put a base coat on first. I think the color is what does that, and this coat protects your nail.
I don't know how to get rid of it, but allegedly using basecoat can prevent it.
Cut a lemon in half and rub over the nails. If that doesn't help, take a small grit nail file and buff them lightly. Good Luck! Happy Friday!
I buff the top of them and that usually works. Otherwise, you should just use clear polish for a week and let them breathe.
    Order TIPS
Dip them in lemon juice or apply whitening nail polish.
Don't use nail polish for a while. Get rid of the coat you have on with nail polish remover, than soak your toes in hot water with lemon in with it. That will give your nails nutrients. After that put on a clear coat of nail polish for a week. That will allow time for your nails to grow and unsaturate with the greasy nail polish.
    you can purchase nail polish from Avon that is for yellow nails that you use when you had your polish on to long and your nails turned yellow. it helps to hide the yellow till your new nails grow and the yellow goes away. ';for yellowing nails';
I usually dip a Q-tip in bleach and rub it over my nails. It's smells, but it works.

    Cleaning Nail Polish from Carpets

To remove nail polish from carpets, nail polish remover will work but you need to USE CAUTION because it can also remove dye from your carpet or upholstery.

On light colored carpet it might not be noticeable but on darker colors. TEST FIRST! Otherwise, a little nail polish will be the least of your worries. How about having to replace a whole roomful of carpet or trying to match the carpet color to dye one patch?

For carpet, always test any kind of chemical stain remover/cleaner in an out of the way place like a corner. Under a cushion might be a good spot for upholstery.

Nonacetone polish remover is probably safer but no guarantees.*nail polish remover may be harmful to carpet or fabric*

Here is more advice from FAQ Farmers:

    * DO -NOT- USE NAIL POLISH ROMOVER UNLESS U READ THE LABEL IT IS HARMFUL TO SOME DIFFERENT TYPES OF CARPETS AND FABRICS

    * I don't know if this will work for ';old'; stains, but for new ones: Use a lot of water, keep the stain wet! Use about 15-20 squirts of hair spray and 3-5 splashes of rubbing alcohol. Scrub gently with a small scrub brush. Blot with paper towels. Repeat as necessary. Don't forget to keep pouring water during the process.

    * I tried shaving cream, nail polish remover, hair spray, windex, rubbing acohol, and water. It sort of came out.

    * One tablespoon of ammonia and 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide.

    * I have very light silver gray carpet and bright red polish. I called the carpet maker and they said NAIL POLISH REMOVER. It worked! Then I cleaned the spot with a little carpet cleaner. Good as new.

    * Wow, between everything everyone said I got the nail polish out. I used nail polish remover, hydrogen peroxide, carpet cleaner, water and hair spray and it got it out!

    * I had an old nail polish stain on the carpet. I tried to remove it with nail polish remover and it did not come out at all. I thought that it was hopeless to get out so I left it there. I decided to look online and see if I could find a better solution. I used water, hair spray and rubbing alcohol and it worked on an old stain!

    * Do not use bleach. A bleach stain leeches the dye out of the carpet. After that all you will be able to do is replace the carpet or cover it with a rug.

    * Nail Polish Remover, Water, Hairspray, Hydrogen Peroxide, Carpet Stain Cleaner, Rubbing Alchohol.

    * I used Spot Remover from Stanley Steamer and a lot of rubbing and scrubbing and the spot came out.

    * Brake fluid cleaner. Works in no time.

    * I spilled dark purple nail polish on our brand new beige carpet. The lady at the local hardware store recommended ';Goof Off.'; It took quite a bit of the stain out. From there I used ammonia to get the rest up. The Goof Off worked great to get the polish off the tile %26amp; grout, too.

    * I spilled a whole bottle of BLACK nailpolish on a WHITE rug. Use OXYCLEAN! It works.

    * I used HOT WATER, NAIL VARNISH REMOVER, HAIR REMOVING CREAM, THEN SOAP POWDER IN THAT ORDER, then I scrubbed like a maniac with a dish scrubber, you know the ones with one rough side? For some reason if you dont use it in order it doesnt work!

    * I just used nail polish remover and water and it came out.

    * You can remove nail polish stain of a fabric, carpets, and countertops using Motsenbocker's Lift Off #3. We tried it on our quilt an it made the nail polish stain just disapear, like magic! You can purchast it at any hardware store. We purchased it at The Home Depot for about $6.00. It also removes permanent ink and marker stains.

    * I know this sounds crazy but using carburetor and choke cleaner (found at any auto parts store) did the trick for us. My boyfriend the ';miracle worker'; used this after I spilled bright pink polish over beige carpet. The only bad thing was the smell was pretty strong from the cleaner and it took a few days to go away, but it was amazing how it works.

    * My stain wasnt old, i spilled blue nail polish on my tan carpet, and I poured water on it, I kept it wet, then scrubed, and dabbed, tried not to push it more into the carpet, then then, i poured more water on it, and then i poured nail polish remover on it, scrubbed and dabbed it, then hair spray! put hair spay on it, and scrubbed, did that for about 15 min, and it came out.

    * Water and hydrogen peroxide. My arm now hurts from scrubbing, but it's gone.

    * Water, hair spray and nail varnish remover worked after about 15 minutes scrubbing. A little tip, use a stiff nail brush to scrub with, seemed to lift it a lot faster.
try with white spirits or turps, rinse straight away with sponge and cold water before you wash the carpet
Scissors! Too true...But if acetone wont do it, the only thing you can really do is (A): Find a shade of polish that matches the carpet...Or (B): Cut out the stained section of the carpet and sew in a patch. I know that sounds bad but if you do it right and you have a thick shag carpet you won't even notice unless you re on your knees.

How can I remove red nail polish from black leather boots?

I broke a bottle of nail polish and my boots are covered all over. They were very expensive and I don't want to ruin themHow can I remove red nail polish from black leather boots?
I'd take them to a shoe repair shop. It's worth the money. How can I remove red nail polish from black leather boots?
Take it to a shoe repair place if you can, they have all kinds of great solvents. If you can't, put some nail polish remover on a Q-tip and use it very sparingly to get off the polish. Keep in mind that leather is cow skin, so this should work fine. Then get a good shoe polish and work it in until the area turns black again. If they are shiny boots, you may lose some of the shine.
If you are set on doing it yourself, try using Non-Acetone nail polish remover on a small spot first and see how it affects the leather.

Otherwise, seek advice from a shoe repair shop.
you might try goo gone or WD40. with both of them being oil based products they would not be harming your leather.

How long should you keep nail polish on before removing it?

I know that it's unhealthy for nail polish to be on nails for a really long time and it can turn the nails yellow..

But, how long can I keep my nail polish on my nails before I remove them? 1 week? 2 weeks?

    =)

thank you ladies! How long should you keep nail polish on before removing it?
The yellowing comes from the color you choose. The darker the more yellow. Keep it on as long as it looks nice. If the nails start to yellow use a lighter color polish like a pearl or peach for a couple weeks. This yellowing does not hurt the nails it just looks bad when you don't wear polish. Nails are porous so a clear coat is always reccomended. How long should you keep nail polish on before removing it?
It really depends on how much color the polish has in it (the darker the color, the sooner yellow spots will appear) but I would say about 7-10 days should be safe regardless. Good luck!
i keep mine on for 3 weeks before it starts to chip off.

The only thing that removes nail polish is the acetone nail polish remover or pure acetone. You might be lucky if the shirt is 100% cotton!

Use a little bit of the remover on a corner of the shirt to test first.

Be careful not to be overcome by the fumes of the polish remover: so don't use in a closed space, (open a window or work outside).

HOWEVER, I noticed a bottle of CLEAR ACRYLLIC SPRAY PAINT which is a plasticy substance that is smooth and clear. Maybe Spray paint the outside, and then spray the acryllic spray on it to make it look more realistic. You can find it in the spray paint isle. (I saw it @ Walmart)

How do I get dried nail polish out of carpet?

I am cleaning my carpet today with a rented carpet cleaner, but in one particular spot there is a stain made of reddish nail polish that's approximately 3'; x 2'; and oddly shaped and has long since dried into the carpet. • How can I get rid of discoloration on my nails due to dark nail polish?

My nails have been a tinted yellow for well over a week. I didn't know why until I asked on here and realized it was because I'd been using dark colored nail polishes without a base coat.

Well I've been using a base coat, and using lighter color nail polishes, but my nails are still tinted. Is there anything I can do (at home) to help fix this? How can I get rid of discoloration on my nails due to dark nail polish?
There are several products on the market to whiten your nails but the only one I can remember the name of is Dr g's whiter nails. If the staining isnt too bad try lemon juice, soak your finger tips in half a lemon for 5-10 minutes. Make sure you moisturise your fingers and cuticles after doing this. Another you could try is toothpaste, buff your nails with it but not too often as it can be too abrasiveHow can I get rid of discoloration on my nails due to dark nail polish?

How do I keep bright nail polish from dulling?

I bought a new bottle of really bright purple nail polish recently. However, whenever it dries, it turns dark and dull. I've tried putting on a top coat right after I apply it, but it still becomes several shades darker than the nail polish in the bottle. Any suggestions and tips would be greatly appreciated =)How do I keep bright nail polish from dulling?
Just like the paint you use on the walls, it will always dry 2-3 shades darker than it looks in the bottle. Attempt to purchase a lighter color. In reference to it getting dull, make sure to use a clear coat (it does not have to be top coat but clear coat) once daily to keep it from chiping and getting dull (make these coats very thin). This should get you a week or two of color. As far as getting dark... there is nothing you can do besides mixing it with something else (and who knows what you will get then). *** Helpfull hint... if your nail polish gets thick in the bottle add just a few drops of nail polish remover to revive the regular consistancy. Be careful and start with 2 drops, mix and add more as needed. Good luck! How do I keep bright nail polish from dulling?
Basically, you always have to go a coat lighter than what you want on your nails. Nailpolish always dries darker than it seems in the bottle (except for black, which, for some reason, dries lighter and needs, like, a million coats). Basically there is nothing you can do except prevent this in the future by going a coat darker, in my opinon.
Nail polishes can be deceiving! Honestly thats the sad truth, sometimes its darker or lighter than how it shows in the bottle. Although how many coats are you putting? Sometimes putting more than one coat makes the color much darker. Aside from that, theres nothing i could tell ya =]
apply a clear, top coat after you have finished applying the polish

Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?

I accidently spilt clear polish...not alot.....it didn't seen to be dirty but when I cleaned the rug there seems to be a dark streak where I dropped the polish....how do I get it out?Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?
Maybe. Most fingernail polish uses acetone (the main ingredient of fingernail polish remover) as a solvent. You can buy acetone cheaply at hardware dealers and paint stores. It needs to be tested to make sure the rug is colorfast and it needs to be used in a well-ventilated area (fumes are toxic). Use a Q-tip to apply the acetone to the spill and blot quickly with a very absorbent paper towel. Acetone dissolves a lot of things, including many dyes. It also extracts moisture and oils from skin. Be careful with it.Is it possible to get nail polish out of a wool pile rug?
The Professor is correct. be extremely care to ensure the carpet is color fast...Good luck
If you try polish remover or what is suggested above, I'd suggest testing it on a small area of the rug that's not visible (like the underside) so that if it takes the color out of the rug, you can try something else.

Sponge with polish remover or banana oil. Wash. If stain remains, sponge with denatured alcohol to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Wash again. Do - not use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics.

How do I keep my nail polish from exploding on a plane?

My nail polish always blows up when I go on a plane ride. I know there's a way to stop it from doing that, but I don't know what it is!How do I keep my nail polish from exploding on a plane?
I have NEVER had that happen! The nail pollish I carry is in the usual bottle it was sold in, and I never mix anything in such as thinners or solvents. I suspect that if you add anything or use a different container that might make a difference. I do hope you put your nail polish into zipper-style plastic bags to protect the other things in your suitcase! How do I keep my nail polish from exploding on a plane?
Hm, I'm not sure either. I've taken a few glass nail polish bottles on trips. None of them ever exploded, but just in case they did, my mom told me to put them in a ziplock baggie. Maybe you should do that too, for extra precaution, even if someone here gives you an answer.
This has never happened to me, and I've taken nail polish in my luggage lots of times! I don't understand how this happens, its in a glass bottle!! Maybe you should just wait and buy a bottle when you get to your destination?

Or at least how much will it cost to get it dry-cleaned?How do you get dried nail polish out of a comforter?
Scissors. How do you get dried nail polish out of a comforter?
    Things You'll Need:

    Acentone

Old wash rags or absorbant pads

Scrape the excess paint off of the clothing. I find using a butter knife to lift the excess paint off works well and then I clean it with nail polish remover.

Step 2test a spot of acetone where you cant see it to note any changes. If no changes (discoloration) go on to step 3.

Step 3Flush acetone through the stain to an absorbent pad or rag. Continue to do this until you're not seeing anymore color come through. a white rag or pads would work the best for this.

Step 4Let it dry throughly and then wash twice in the washer. Use a bit of stain remover if you have it. If not dab a little detergant on the spot and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then throw in the wash
It costs a lot to get it dry cleaned-at least 10 dollars, but it can be up to 35! I would call dry cleaners to get the best price. Explain how this happened and even attach a note saying this. I would do this and while i'm at the dry cleaning store I would ask how exactly they intend to get it out and if it happens again you will know how to deal w/ it. DO NOT USE AMMONIA! It will probably react with the nail polish I had an unhappy experience w/ this.

Also if you really are strapped for cash, you can patch it, just use a coordinating fabric-one that is hard to stain-stain-resistant. Ly it on the comforter in a diamond design for aesthetic purposes. Do not use acetone. The only thing that might help is vinegar or club soda.
This may not be helpful. but if nothing works, just flip over the comforter or get a duvet cover to put on.
you could try pure acetone, but depending on what the comforter is made out of it will probably ruin the comforter. There's not really much you can do about it, I don't think a dry cleaner can fix it either.

What happens if you drink nail polish remover?

Today at school, a classmate put a nail polish remover pad into someone's water and told someone to drink it. The boy took a sip and realized what was in it, and went to the nurse. Acetone, is one of the ingredients for making Methamphetamine, and yes, it is poison in even small amounts.

  • How do you make your nail polish thicker?

I have a blue that i really like but the only problem is its really really thin and i have to paint on like 3-4 coats just to get it to not be see-through. I think i heard something about putting it in the fridge, is that true? If not, any other suggestions? How do you make your nail polish thicker?
Mix the blue 2/3 blue and 1/3 black! That'll make it darker so you will need less layers! I have no idea about the fridge thing, though!

    Hope this helps!

Xo.How do you make your nail polish thicker?
Putting it in the freezer for a while will work for short term, but in the long run try getting thicker nail polishes like OPI and China Glaze. Sally Hansen is good, but tends to be a little thin.
i would just put one one clear coat then after one hour the nail polish color you have then after one hour one more clear coat then again after one hour one more clear coat ok then its thick
It usually depends on the brand of nail polish you are using... If you are using a really cheap nail polish then it will be see through. (which sucks =/ but yeah... I probably didn't really help much sorry
I would suggest putting it in the freezer for like 15- 20 minutes shake it and try it
put it in the fridge and do layers

It is always better to use non chemical products to clean your carpets, as this can lower the risk of damaging the colors. Always remove stains on a carpet, as soon as they come up. Blot up the stain to the best of your ability, but don't scrub. Scrubbing can harden the stain and rip apart the fibers and alter the look of the nap. Simply press a clean terry cloth against the stain to let the stain stand up from the carpet. Next, keep on blotting the stain with another clean cloth, dipped in a mild detergent like a hand dishwashing detergent, toned down with water. If the stain does not fade away, use a chemical carpet cleaner, but before that, use it on a hidden part of the carpet to prevent it from bleaching the carpet or altering the colors in any way. But if this method fails, call a professional carpet cleaner, who will use stronger chemicals to erase the stain. http://www.freewebs.com/getanswer/howtocleancarpets.html

you may dab it lightly with polish remover, but watch for bleeding to a bigger area. If you have extra carpet, you can carefully cut that piece out and glue a new piece in. It will blend fine. Good luck.

There are so many to pick from. It depends on what you're wearing and what ';your'; colors are - what looks best on you. I can tell you what I like to see. Go to the OPI and China Glaze websites to see a myriad of colors.

Favs that are different from shades you have stated include:

    OPI Kyoto Pearl

    OPI Rosy Future

    OPI Room Service

    OPI No Bees Please

    OPI Its Sheer Luck

There are just so many shades, in creme or sheer and glitter, shimmer, etc that you can almost never decide or even have enough time or money to try them all. There a re few websites that you see what your hands will look like with the polish color. You can even select your own skin tone first.

You can try 8ty8beauty and Sally Beauty and Goddess Within as on-line stores that have good selection and good prices.

    Have fun with it.

Nail polish remover is a solvent.

Solvents and plastics are not always friends. They interact chemically.

The solvent has already evaporated, so there is nothing to remove.

The color change in the plastic is permanent.Help! How do you get nail polish remover off of a keyboard?
Might not be able to. There's chemicals in it that react with the plastic. Same thing with nail polish. That's why it's the best way to mark things (with your name) because it's impossible to remove without making a huge mess.
try using alcohol , using a q-tip. or nail polish remover. good luck.
Try some water but use a Q tip just in case the water goes inside the keys! If that doesn't work try just wipping it with a cloth after! OOOOO YAAAA try icleaner it works EVERYTIME!!!
Try perfume.Just spray some perfume on the place where you spilled it and than rub it with bounty and see if it goes.
Take a qtip and put alittle remover on it , that should do it.
spray a bit of hairspray on it, it works for a lot of stuff including nail varnish!!

i always buy those cotton buds that are for beauty. one end is a flat round one for eye make up, the other end is a thin point. if you dip this end into nail varnish remover and gently rub it around the skin you can clean it without disturbing the nails. if you have a steady hand a normal cotton bud will also do it!How can i get nail polish off my fingers without ruining my nails?
I know what you mean. Some people have dry nails. In the sense, when you use the nail polish remover it tends to make the nails look unhealthy. This is because the remover tends to take out also the naturally secreted sebum oil of the nails. I recommend these strategies to pamper ur claws to an awesome feeling:

    1. Use a Q-Tip or a small cotton swab

    2. Dilute your nail polish remover with water in 3:1 ratio

    3. remove the polish quickly taking care that the remover doesnt stay so long in the nail

    4. Quickly dab some moisturizer and wipe them on your nails

    5. Use 1-2 drops of baby oil on the nails and message them

    6. Leave the nails to breathe naturally overnight

    7. Apply new nail polish next dayHow can i get nail polish off my fingers without ruining my nails?
I try to paint my nails before I shower.

Make sure the nails are completely dry.

The water softens up the nail polish around the nails and it's much easier to peel off.

If there is still nail polish then with a q-tip very carefully I just go around the nail with just a tiny bit of nail polish on the cotton.
Dip a Q-tip (cotton bud) into some nail polish remover and then carefully go around the edge of your nail.
What I do is get a wet washcloth and rub the part of your skin where the nail polish is. It always works for me. Good Luck!
Use a conditioning, acetone free nail varnish remover and wash your hands immediately afterwards.
u buy nail varnish remover. These are available in many shops such as boots, superdrug, etc
just use the nail polish remover(amyl acetate) on a cotton bud. Wash it afterwards. It will not hurt you.
put nail polish remover on a cotton bud (the cotton stick things) and take it off your fingers. thats what i do :)

How do I keep my nail polish from chipping?

I use a clear polish as a base, and as the final coat, but the next day it always seems to chip. Is it just the brand? (N.Y.C) And if it helps, I have average length nails. How do I keep my nail polish from chipping?
Wash your hands with antibacterial soap before you polish to get rid of oils that can cause chipping.

Use a base coat: Not only does it keep colored polish from staining nails yellow, but it also creates a smooth surface so color goes on evenly and lasts longer. Let it dry for one minute before applying polish for best effect.

Add polish and allow it to dry for one minute, then apply second coat. Let that dry for a minute, then paint on a clear top coat.

Always paint on thin layers- a thick coat won't stick to the nail as well, causing it to chip quicker. Apply a fresh coat of clear polish every other day to protect your color.

And I recommend OPI- kind of expensive though. Professionals use it however and its a quality product. How do I keep my nail polish from chipping?
I wouldnt use a base, because that means you are putting on 3 coats of nail polish, and that is thick once it dries, causing it to chip. Try just putting on the nail polish, and then a final coat of clear. :)
get a water based nail polish, like suncoat. i have this kind and it hardly fades at all by itself, unless your nails grow and you'd have to apply more on
personally i love sally hansen nail polish, its inexpensive and they have a great selection. try their ';hard as wraps'; polish, its got great staying power and helps prevent nail breakage as well.

What is the best way to get old nail polish off fingernails?

I used the sally hansen home pedicure colors and i have had it on for like 3 months and normal nail polish remover won't work. Most of it has chipped off except for the stubborn portion. Any ideas? What is the best way to get old nail polish off fingernails?
Get a shallow bowl and soak your nails in the nail polish remover for about 5 minutes. That will loosen up the old polish. Once you've soaked them, wash your hands and take another round of nail polish remover to your nails on a tissue or cotton ball. The stubbon polish should come right off. I'd suggest putting a top coat or protector on your nails at this point since you'll be putting them through a lot of stress with that process. Good luck. What is the best way to get old nail polish off fingernails?

with some nail polish remover (acetone or non-acetone).

What color nail polish should I wear with a black dress?

So here is the deal. I'm wearing a short (kind of plain) black dress to the winter homecoming dance at my school. I got deep purple shoes to wear with the dress but I am not sure what color nail polish i should wear or how i should get them done. I'm going to get them professionally done so do you have any suggestions? What color nail polish should I wear with a black dress?
wear metallic. it's really in fashion now.

I would say you have 3 very promising options:

    1. You could go with a simple french manicure-- since you're having them done by a professional, they should turn out very pretty.

    2. You could also consider a classic red nail. Beautiful and bold.

    3. In the winter months, I like wearing a deep purple nail polish (like your shoes)-- my favorites is Sally Hansen Pat on the Black.

Hope this helps and have fun at the dance!

Get acrylic french manicure. The price usually runs from around $25-$45 bucks. It's always classy with any outfit, and very formal.
a french manicure would look great but if you want some color i would suggest a deep purple to match your shoes or maybe a midnight blue would look great to.
I would go with airbrushed ones with like a jewel in them or something. But if u want them painted I would go with a purple that matched the shoe. Good luck. :)
If you want a cute classic look try a french manicure.

If you want to stand out try a brighter, bolder color.

    :DD
green, but not like bright. like sea green. something blueish-green
if you got deep purple shoes then i think you shouldn't get purple nails. i would say a french tip (white)
A nice French manicure or clear sparkly would look gorgeous!
    french manicure!
i would suggest a french manicure,

it's classic and will go with your outfit.

    have fun (:

Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?

i want to re-do my nail polish on my acrylic nails without removing the nails, or going to the nail shop.Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?
Non acetone nail polish usually. But, I use pure acetone daily on my clients (I'm a nail tech) and I have yet to damage any acrylic nails with it. It works so much better and faster. Plus, it won't be on the nail long enough to cause any damage to it. Just be fast, and don't let any sit on the nail for any longer than absolutely necessary, thats all.Is there anyway to remove nail polish from acrylic nails without removing the acrylic off of the nail?
If you get a non-acetone nail polish remover it won't mess up your nails. Just use it like like you would with the regular nail polish removers(cotton balls...).

Try using acetone. You can get it at a paint store or a hardware store or department. Rub it on and scrub real hard with a strong bristle brush and than wash with a strong detergent and really hot water even boiling water. Scrub real hard and then wipe away with a dry cloth. Repeat this procedure until you are satisfied with the results. Good luck! What removes Nail Polish from carpet?
