What is the best way to apply nail polish?

Is there any special treatment that i should give to my nails so that the nail polish stays? How much time approximately will it take to dry because i hate sitting with my hands spread for hours doing nothing. Tips anyone? What is the best way to apply nail polish?
I remember reading a comment like this not so long ago!

Try this...

First soak your hands in some soapy water (or after a bath will work.) Then trim, file, and buff your nails. Then use a product to moisturize your cuticles - Sally Hansens is great. Then push back and trim your cuticles. Next wash hands very well with a nail brush (or an old toothbrush will work) to remove all oils. Dry them very well. Apply a thin base coat and take it over the tips of your nails. Then apply two thin coats of your favorite color. Make sure you roll and don't shake your color. Allow each coat to dry completely about 5-10 minutes depending on the brand. Make sure your polish is fresh and not thick on the brush. After applying the color finish with a top coat and again take it over the tips of your nails. Wait about five minutes and use Sally Hansens quick dry or baby oil over the tops.

My favorite brands are Sally for base and top coats and Revlon for color. They can last a year or even more if you keep the lid on tight and don't leave the brush out for too long at a time. I've found that the Quick Dry type don't last as long, if you are really worried about longevity. Just throw it out when it looks thick on the brush - you can try adding nail polish remover but it'll never be the same, it looses its luster. What is the best way to apply nail polish?
apply a moisturiser before applying nail-paint after applying the nail paint apply a transparent nail paint coat use oriflame for best results and healthy nails
use some clear nail polish first then red or any coler than clear
well ask me to polish them............lol
color coat first once that dries add acoat of clear polish. if you do it outside it will dry faster but if its cold outside it might take longer..good luck
Apply a base coat first, then I would apply just a few layers of colour..give 30 mins in between to dry. Finish with a good nail top coat like DeMert and it'll last you for about a week!
tell to your boyfriend to put nail polish so u not be bored also okieeeeee
hmmm personal choice but my nail polish lasts longer if i do two coats of the same colour, one after the other. it also makes the colour brighter and more flawless looking!
you need your nail polish to be thin! if it is clumpy it will only make your nails look tacky!

add nail polish remover to your thick nail polishes... but be careful with the amount that you add. too much could destroy your nail polish all together.

sit your nails in cold water. this will help it to dry faster!

Do not peal around the outside until after all coats are dry and the skin on your hands is wet from either a bath or shower! this will make pealing off the nail polish much easier!
u put the nail polish and thn apply some cold water
I wash my hands, using a nail scrubber to get under the nail. dry hands. Take some olive oil, any kind and a drop or two on each finger. Rub into the cuticle. Take a orange wood stick, or cuticle pusher, and gently push back cuticle. I then use a 3 or 4 sided shapers and even out the edge and surface of the nail. wash my hands again - if it still seems oily, use some rubbing alcohol on the nail and cuticle. You want to get rid of all oil!

Use a decent base coat. after using it on all fingers, start with the first finger again, and apply thin coat of color. Apply a 2nd thin coat, if needed. Use a good top coat, like Seche Vite - it dries fast and really makes the polish more long lasting. ( I buy it at Trade Secret - usually in malls in US)

Put top coat on every other day. Should last a while, even if you work in a hospital like me, washing hands often.
you can pay the money and have it professionally done or just put fake nails on or you could put some of that clear stuff on that makes your nails healthy it makes your nail polish stick.
Make sure your nails and clean and dry. Use a little polish remover to make sure there is no oil left on your nails. Then brush a light coat of vinegar on them and let it thoroughly dry.

Then use a light buffing tool like a sand turtle (fine) to roughen up your nails.

The first coat should be a good base coat (like OPI) and let it dry completely (maybe 10 minutes). Then two coats of polish, letting each coat dry, and follow with a good top coat like Seche Vite. The next day, apply one more coat of top coat.

Your nails will look like they were professionally done, and they will last as long as you can expect. If you are hard on them, maybe two to three days on natural nails. If you have a lighter touch, then as much as 5-6 days.

On Gels, you can get maybe two weeks out of a coat of polish.
wipe ur nails down b4 u do any thing, to remove any grease and dirt from the nail.....then apply a base coat,,,let dry for 2 mins.....apply your colour with a minimal amount on ur brush to avoid clumping, if u h8 waiting for ur polish 2 dry, invest in a quick dry nail spray... and make sure u apply a top coat this adds a glossy shine and provides strength to stop ur polish chipping
