The problem w/nail polish remover is that it'll also take the finish off of the floor %26amp; leave a ';dead-spot'; of unfinished floor. I suppose if you must you could try using it w/ a Q-tip %26amp; really gently dab on the spot %26amp; quickly blot (don't smear or you'll probably wreck the floor) it up w/tissue paper.
If you wreck the floor then you'll need to try to match the color w/a stain %26amp; when the stain is dry going over it w/polyurethane (probably a satin finish)
