How do you put nail polish on without chipping?

I painted my nails last night and put clear coat on top and then it was all pretty and everything but the next day, after i washed the dishes, they started chipping easily. I think it's because of the water, but that isn't supposed to happen. Anybody knows how to prevent this? How do you put nail polish on without chipping?
Put 1 clear coat on and let it dry (this allows for a flawlish base). Next, apply 1 coat of your color. Let dry then apply the same color (this also makes the color appear brighter). Finally, add 1 more clear coat (to seal everything in). If this still dosen't seem to work you can buy a spry that makes it last. Also try going to get a manicure and watch what they do. There polish lastes forever (about 3 months for me).

Hope that helped! How do you put nail polish on without chipping?
In addition to the other suggestions, make sure your nails are perfectly clean. Just before polishing them, go over your nails one more time with fresh polish remover.
Put a base coat.

Then apply the nail polish, one layer.

Then let it dry.

Then apply another layer.

Then top clear coat!

Gluck!
