What is the best way to remove nail polish with out using nail polish remover?

Last night I accidentally knocked off a bottle of nail polish from my shelf. It got on the tile, wall, wood working, shower curtain, and one of my towels. Is there any other product I can use to remove the nail polish besides nail polish remover? What is the best way to remove nail polish with out using nail polish remover?
acetone, you can get it rather inexpenxively at your local hardware store. make sure you wear gloves when using it though, or it may sting your hands! (it is often used in nail polish remover, so its not that bad though note that it is still flamable, so make sure to clean with warm water afterwards -- other suggestions like keorsine and gasoline are a bit scarier)What is the best way to remove nail polish with out using nail polish remover?
